Southwest Corner

This is one of the most popular areas to fish for stripers. On weekends in the summer a large number of boats will be found out here trolling wire line to catch striped bass. This area has the most fishing spots of any other place around the isle.

Between the Island and the second red can there is a lot of rocky bottom and stripers as well as blues can be found in there.  Trolling from the first red can to the second red can on the outside in 40-50 feet of water can also be productive.  The area immediately around the second rd can and south of it has a noticeable hump that can be a good spot as well.

Moving toward the southwest ledge there are many rocks and boulders that provide excellent structure for bass and blues to hunt for their prey. This entire area has rocky bottom with depth changes. The most productive fishing method is trolling. Many boats will also fish using live eels, although this is now very expensive fishing considering the cost of eels. Drifting with jigheads and soft plastic baits will also catch fish.
