This area is provided with some very rocky bottom as you can see from the sattalite image below. It is necessary to be careful around black rock and some other spots as there are dangerous rocks that can cause damage to your boat. East of black rock you can see the rocks thin out and there is some sandy bottom. Bass love this rocky bottom and especailly when it is rough out, which also makes it more dangerous to fish the area. The tumble of the undertoe from the big waves washing across the bottom will cause baitfish and crabs to lose control, making them easy prey for the stripers cruising along. Drifting any where along the area with soft plastics or plugs can be very good fishing.
Remebr to approach at slow speed when you are unsure of the area, as the damage caused will be minimal from an impact.
